How does the Islamic Religion threaten the rights of women in Iran?

Women in Iran have to undergo humiliation from society because they have to be escorted to the market by the head of the house.  This is usually the father but in some cases where there is no father, it is the sons, brothers or uncles.  Women are thought of as less of that of a man, so they must suffer things like honour killings, FGM, and Shair’a Laws.  Honor killings happen to this day because a women does not ask for permission to go on a walk,  because a man raped her or other childish acts that she may do.  It is so unfair that women have no voice to be heard over the booming testosterone of a man.   The Universal Declaration of Human Rights clearly states:

“Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth, or other status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty.”

So I do not see why religion in Iran, which is thought of to be this glorifying act of man, is so harsh and brutal to their women.  But see that is the problem, religion in Iran gives more freedom to men than women. Women must undergo FGM which is excruciating pain that no woman should ever go through.  This operation is supposed to enhance femininity and decline the use of prostitution.

Brutal "Care"

Little girls from the age of four to twelve must undergo this procedure.  Tools like these to the left are used as well as broken glass, tin lids and unsterilized razors.  Basically FGM is female circumcision in order to confine women of their freedom of sexuality.  The only bright side to this horrific procedure is its message: “No sex before marriage.”  But would not talking and teaching them right be enough?  Well it is obviously not in Iran, because girls are convinced or forced to have this done to them.  Their own family telling them that they should get his done, it is simply terrible.

Women in Iran have to live in an incarcerated state in their own homes and everyday lives, known as the Shari’a Laws.  These laws are strictly sexist toward women living in Muslim countries.  For example, women caught without a male “guardian” are beaten and most times killed.  What happens many times is honor killings, in which a woman had shamed the family and she is either beaten or stoned to death.  Women living in Iran have no right to be treated like this.  But who is going to stop these tyrant men and their sexist views?  Who knows, maybe they will be another Alice Paul fighting for the right to be a human being, yelling in the streets of Iran “Resistance to tyranny, is Obedience to God.”
